Martyrs

The deliberate choice of a single material – this raw, sensory, and warm terracotta – allows the architecture to gently fade into the background, giving prominence to the exhibited pieces. It is a restrained and coherent language, where form follows gesture, and gesture follows function.

In the heart of Rue des Martyrs, this boutique had long faded into obscurity, having lost all the singular charm of the Parisian shops of old. The renovation project seeks to restore its soul by infusing it with a contemporary, refined, and expressive identity.

From the entrance, a ribbon of raw red terracotta unfolds beneath one’s feet. This path — a subtle yet deliberate nod to the red carpet — naturally guides visitors through a fluid journey. The floor becomes a counter, then rises to form a wall: a continuous, sculptural gesture that shapes the space and carries the signage. Tucked behind this wall, a fitting room nestles beneath the staircase.

The central area is intentionally left open and unencumbered, creating a sense of breathing space. All around, garment racks line the perimeter like a discreet gallery, allowing the clothing to fully express itself.

This is a space reimagined not merely as a container, but as a living showcase: a place of passage, of observation, of revelation.
